1. What is this about?
I am attempting to run 10 kms (6.2 miles) on the 7th of March 2009. My run is in aid of Projectwhy. This blog will chart my progress from being a supremely unfit mother to a supremely unfit mother who can manage 10 kms.
I would greatly appreciate if you can support me in my run by contributing to www.projectwhy.org . While you’re there, please take a minute to read about the wonderful work they do. And if like me, you too are inspired to do something, then why not run 10 kms (or 5 or 2) in their aid and get your friends and family to sponsor you?
2. Why now?
Difficult times has meant difficult decisions for Projectwhy. They risk losing a few people from their team if funds are not made available.
3. How can I join in?
Get yourself a pair of running shoes. Then find a 10 km running route. Start training. Tell your friends and family about it and ask them to sponsor you by contributing to Projectwhy. Decide on a date and run!
4. I cannot run. But I wish to contribute. What do I do?
Go to Projectwhy’s website and click on paypal. Or send them a cheque.
5. How do I know you have run 10 kms?
Tricky one. You’ve just got to take my word for it. I will be honest about whether or not I’ve been successful in my attempt.
6. Why don’t you run in any of the public races instead?
Most public races/runs charge an entrance fee. Money I would much rather contribute to Projectwhy. Also, many of them have chosen charities. So I may not be able to raise funds for others.
7. To recap, you take my money and run, right?
No, no! You send absolutely NO money to me.
Whatever you wish to contribute, please donate to Projectwhy directly.
I simply run the run.
8. Anything else?
If you have any other idea of fundraising or other means of ensuring a sustainable income for the charity, please get in touch with the head of Projectwhy, Anouradha Bakshi at anouradha.bakshi@gmail.com
Thank you! And spread the word!
